Two Nights Remain for Blossom Trail Players Inaugural Production, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF

TWO NIGHTS REMAIN FOR BLOSSOM TRAIL PLAYERS INAUGURAL PRODUCTION, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF

Just two nights remain for the show that critics are saying is "the start of something wonderful in Sanger!" (Karan Johnson, longtime performer and director)

The premiere production of the Blossom Trail Players' inaugural season, Fiddler On The Roof, continues its run on June 26 and 27 at the Sanger High School MPR. With music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and book by Joseph Stein, Fiddler is set in the Pale of Settlement of Imperial Russia in 1905. Based on the writings of Sholem Aleichem, the story centers on Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his Jewish religious and cultural traditions, as outside influences encroach upon the family's lives. He must cope both with the strong-willed actions of his three older daughters, who wish to marry for love—each one's choice of a husband moves further away from the customs of his faith—and with the edict of the Tsar that evicts the Jews from their village. The original Broadway production of the show, which opened in 1964, had the first musical theatre run in history to surpass 3,000 performances, earned rousing critical and commercial acclaim, and has since seen numerous revivals, tours, and productions internationally.

The local production is directed by Sanger High’s own theatre arts teacher Erica Mardirosian, with music direction by Sanger native and music educator Andrew Esquer and choreography by Jefferson Elementary School’s resident theatre choreographer, Jackie Moreno. The production features over 40 performers, many of whom are making their stage debuts in this show, and stars Sanger math and choir educator Daniel Warnecke as Tevye.

"[A] charming production, with a live orchestra, a wonderful set, and many likable performances. […] Go see it—you'll be in on the start of something wonderful, and you will have a good time!" raves Karan Johnson, longtime performer and director.

Final performances are Friday, June 26, and Saturday, June 27, 2015, at the Sanger High School Multi-Purpose Room, 1045 Bethel Avenue, Sanger, California, 93657. The show begins at 7:30 pm, with doors opening at 7:00 pm. Tickets cost just $10 for adults and $7 for students and seniors, and are available for reservation at blossomtrailplayers.com/tickets.
