FEBRUARY 22, 2018—FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BLOSSOM TRAIL PLAYERS ANNOUNCES CHANGE TO FOURTH SEASON LINEUP
Sanger, CA—Blossom Trail Players is announcing a change to its selection of shows for its 2018 season. In place of Rodgers and Hammerstein's The King and I, BTP will now be performing Guys and Dolls: A Musical Fable of Broadway, written by Abe Burrows and Jo Swerling, with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser. Seen by many as the pinnacle of musical theatre, this gem from the golden age of Broadway ran for over 1,200 performances when it opened in 1950 and has earned countless awards including Tony Awards, Drama Desk Awards, and Olivier Awards, and has seen numerous revivals.
The previous selection, Rodgers and Hammerstein's The King and I, has been pulled due to licensing restrictions resulting from the current production touring nationally.
All dates and logistics that pertained to The King and I will carry over for Guys and Dolls: Performances will be June 21–30, 2018 at the Sanger High School MPR. Auditions for Guys and Dolls: A Musical Fable of Broadway are scheduled for April 21 & 24, 2018, with callback auditions taking place on April 25. We encourage actors of all ages over 8 to attend. Cast rehearsals are slated to begin May 7, 2018. The production will be directed by local theatre educator Elizabeth Fiester. More information on auditions, rehearsals, and performances will be shared as the dates get closer.

ABOUT THE BLOSSOM TRAIL PLAYERS: BLOSSOM TRAIL PLAYERS is a brand new community theatre group in Sanger, California. Founded by theatre enthusiasts, professionals and educators through the support of Sanger Unified School District, the BTP’s mission is to put on high-quality theatrical productions for the entertainment of the community, to offer an outlet for performers and creatives to apply their talents in a group setting, and to provide training and educational opportunities to those interested in learning more about the theatrical arts.
In 2015, the BTP made their stage debut with a critically-acclaimed production of Fiddler on the Roof that critics raved is "the start of something wonderful in Sanger!" (Karan Johnson, longtime performer and director) The production was directed by Sanger High School’s theatre arts teacher, Erica Mardirosian, with music direction by Sanger native and music educator Andrew Esquer and choreography by Jefferson Elementary School’s resident theatre choreographer, Jackie Moreno. The production featured over 40 actors, many of whom made their stage debuts in the show, and starred Sanger math and choir educator Daniel Warnecke as Tevye. A live orchestra of over a dozen musicians was on hand to provide the music.
