Blossom Trail Players Announces Open Auditions for Third Season Production BYE BYE BIRDIE

Sanger, CA—Blossom Trail Players are excited to announce open auditions for their 2017 June production, Bye Bye Birdie. Inspired by the kerfuffle that surrounded Elvis Presley's draft into military service, Birdie is a lighthearted, family-friendly tale about the effect that a PR campaign to send rock-and-roller teen heartthrob Conrad Birdie off to the Army with a bang—or rather, "One Last Kiss"—has on the denizens of smalltown Sweet Apple, Ohio. The musical was a commercial success, winning four Tony Awards (including one for Best Musical), spawned several professional productions, two films, and was recently announced as the selection for NBC's next live musical production, premiering in December 2017.

With performances at the end of June, auditions for Bye Bye Birdie are from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4th, and Wednesday, April 5th, with callbacks from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday the 6th. All auditions take place at the Sanger High School Multi-Purpose Room. We encourage actors of all ages over 8 to attend. Numerous roles are available, ranging from a precocious little brother to screaming teen girls to their jealous boyfriends to a highly opinionated and imposing widowed mother. An accompanist will be provided so please bring your own sheet music. No pre-recorded accompaniments including those on CDs, smartphones, or other electronic devices will be allowed for auditions.

Set crew, lighting crew, sound crew and child wranglers are also needed for the production. Plan to attend and be part of the Sanger Theatre experience!

ABOUT THE BLOSSOM TRAIL PLAYERS: BLOSSOM TRAIL PLAYERS is a brand new community theatre group in Sanger, California. Founded by theatre enthusiasts, professionals and educators through the support of Sanger Unified School District, the BTP’s mission is to put on high-quality theatrical productions for the entertainment of the community, to offer an outlet for performers and creatives to apply their talents in a group setting, and to provide training and educational opportunities to those interested in learning more about the theatrical arts.

In 2015, the BTP made their stage debut with a critically-acclaimed production of Fiddler on the Roof that critics raved is "the start of something wonderful in Sanger!" (Karan Johnson, longtime performer and director) The production was directed by Sanger High School’s theatre arts teacher, Erica Mardirosian, with music direction by Sanger native and music educator Andrew Esquer and choreography by Jefferson Elementary School’s resident theatre choreographer, Jackie Moreno. The production featured over 40 actors, many of whom made their stage debuts in the show, and starred Sanger math and choir educator Daniel Warnecke as Tevye. A live orchestra of over a dozen musicians was on hand to provide the music.
