The seeds are sewn. Cultivate the growth of theatre in bloom™.

While all staff positions with the BTP are currently 100% volunteer, certain roles require specific experience and/or training to be able to perform the tasks necessary. For that reason, we have an application process for these positions on the creative/production staff, in our pit orchestras, and for our Board of Directors.

For descriptions on any of these positions, please read our job descriptions briefs, coming soon.

APPLY FOR DIRECTORSHIP

BTP is now accepting applications from qualified applicants to direct future productions. Ideal candidates are creative, talented, and experienced musical theatre directors whom are organized, have a clear theatrical vision, and are capable of educating performers and participants from ages 9–90 in all requisite facets of the theatrical arts. BTP is specifically looking for directors with specific shows in mind to be produced, but is also accepting candidates to enter our directors pool for future productions. Ideal show suggestions will be family-friendly, featuring a large cast, accessible to all ages as both performers and audience, and will serve as an excellent gateway to introduce Sanger to the community theatre experience. The application team (currently our Board of Directors) may request an interview with candidates before making a decision. Due to our affiliation with Sanger Unified School District, a background check will be required before applicants can participate with the organization.

BTP is also entertaining suggestions from directorship applicants for creative/production staff to be brought in for his/her production (for example, a director may have a music director, choreographer, and scenic designer s/he works well with). If the application panel considers appointing suggested personnel, they will also be required to interview before a final decision is made.

APPLY FOR CREATIVE/PRODUCTION TEAM POSITIONS

Soon, BTP will be accepting applications from qualified applicants for managerial/creative team positions with future productions. The application team may request an interview with candidates before making a decision. Due to our affiliation with Sanger Unified School District, a background check will be required for anyone over 18 or already graduated from high school before you can participate with the organization.

Such positions might include:

  • Producer
  • Music Director
  • Choreographer
  • Stage Manager
  • Costume Designer
  • Scenic Designer
  • Technical Director
  • Property Master
  • Lighting Designer
  • Sound Designer/Engineer
  • Hair Supervisor
  • Make-up Supervisor
  • House Manager
  • Box Office Manager

In interviews or in writing, and depending on the position for which a candidate applies, BTP may entertain suggestions for future shows to be produced or for future staff to be brought in for a production (for example, a producer may have a director, choreographer, and music director s/he works well with, or an applicant for scenic design may have a whole design team or even build crew to suggest). If the application panel considers appointing suggested personnel, they may also be required to interview before a final decision is made.

In addition, BTP is also seeking candidates for the following administrative positions. Candidates with knowledge of music and musical terminology are preferred, as are candidates with experience with music technology, but no prior experience is necessary. These positions are ideal for candidates interested in learning more about musical theatre pit work or music direction for musical theatre. Both positions may be filled by one candidate.:

  • PIT TECHNICAL MANAGER. Instead of the props department facilitating the technical setup of pit/orchestra equipment, the BTP music department retains its own position for this task. Duties include setting up chairs, music stands, stand lamps, amplifiers, electronic equipment, percussion equipment, sound equipment, and more for orchestra rehearsals and performances; aiding musicians with secure storage of equipment during performance runs; and maintaining battery supply lines and being available for technical issues that may arise during performances.
  • ASSISTANT TO THE MUSIC DIRECTOR AND ASSOCIATE MUSIC DIRECTOR. This is an ideal position for a student interested in shadowing a theatre music director and learning more about the musical theatre pit experience. Duties include being available at rehearsals and performances to aid in clerical and administrative tasks; assisting the pit technical manager in setup and teardown for rehearsals and performances; and generally being an extra set of eyes, ears, and hands for the Music Director and Associate Music Director.
